Anyone who has used email knows that forwarding email is simply sending an email in one’s inbox to another email address. However, you must know that there are two types of email forwarding namely server based forwarding and client based forwarding.
When you look at an email address, you will find a “@” mark in the middle. The name that is on the left of it is called the client and the one to the right is called the domain. Now, you will understand that client based email forwarding is done by the one who is meant by the name found on the left of the @ and in case of domain based forwarding it is done by the domain of which the address is there on the right of the @.
Domain based forwarding
In a custom email address the administrator of a server could get the server to forward mails to any address served by the same server. This is often called redirection. It is also possible for the administration of a company to forward messages through server of theirs to individuals in the company. In this case the sender will be registered as the administrator, post master, info or such other term. Since the server could be adjusted to send messages automatically server based mail forwarding is very useful for companies.
Client based forwarding.
This could be done manually by the one who receives a mail. In order to do so, he only has to provide the email addresses of the recipients. However, there is the possibility to forward email messages automatically as well. In order to do so, software could be used. When an email message is forwarded manually attachments also will be there intact with the forwarded message.
In case you set your emails to be delivered to another address through mail forwarding the domain of your email address will do that automatically. The steps to follow are simple. In case you have several email addresses from different domains you have the possibility to forward all of them to one inbox. This is one of the occasions where email forwarding could be useful for a layman.
